Sandra originally trained as an actor and was a member of the National Theatre of Great Britain for 2 years. Since training at the Royal Central School as a voice teacher and specialist dialect coach she has worked for over twenty years in international films, television and opera. Her awareness of the acting process combined with her technical understanding has enabled her to work creatively with actors and others to discover their authentic vocal potential when using dialect and accent.
“ ...One aspect of the work that continues to strike me is that it is frequently a process of uncovering, removing obstacles to allow an actor to find the sounds within themselves, a reaching in rather than out. The portal is different for everyone but it is not unusual for people to discover that they know far more about a set of sounds than they originally thought...”
Actors Sandra has worked with include:- Jessie Buckley, Tim Roth, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Sir Ian McKellen, Emily Browning, Saoirse Ronan, Billy Connelly, William Hurt, Olympia Dukakis, Eddie Marsan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sophie Okenedo, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Andrew Garfield, Rebecca Hall, Rachel McAdams and Tom Hardy.
She has worked with directors as diverse as Werner Herzog, Rob Marshall, Andrea Arnold, Ridley Scott, Penny Woolcock and Guillermo Del Toro.
Other areas of interest include, accent and identity in terms of social class, classical and contemporary text, script analysis and corporate and confidence building work.
Sandra is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
