Hazel has worked as an actor and singer for over twenty five years, retraining in 2014 as a voice coach at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. The majority of her work is accent, dialect and voice coaching but because of her performing experience, Hazel can and has been called upon to provide performance coaching during production. Hazel has been described as having a calming and enabling presence on set and in the rehearsal room.
Accents covered include all African diaspora, British, Irish and American regional dialects, including African American and General American and various European dialects.
Hazel’s body of private and corporate client work is extensive. Sessions range from breath work, singing, voice, text, accent smoothing, presentation skills and effective communication.
Having recently worked on Steve McQueen’s Anthology Series, Small Axe, Hazel sustained the entire cast’s voice and dialect work for the life of the production from auditions through to ADR.
Hazel is currently working on Sister/Amazon’s The Power as a performance, voice and dialect coach using a range of accents and languages from Yoruban, Pidgin English, American regional dialects and Moldovan.
